Professional Life

Mike is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor with 30 years of experience. In addition, Mike is a life, health, and long-term care agent. He has counseled and implemented strategies to help his clients solve complex issues. Mike is, and will forever be, the foundation and standard that Newton Financial Group strives to build upon. After a successful stint as an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America, Mike began his investment career at JC Bradford in 1991. In 1994, he moved to First American Bank's (later became Amsouth Bank) investment division. In the fall of 2000, Amsouth Bank sold their Kentucky branches. It was at this time that Mike decided to establish Newton Financial Group. In his career, he has helped clients with investments ranging from mutual funds to more sophisticated Reg D offerings.

Education

Mike graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Economics. Mike received athletic and academic scholarships, and it was during this time that Mike played on Western Kentucky's golf team. Mike also holds licenses as a registered representative and investment advisor representative, along with multiple insurance licenses.

Out of Office

Mike has a heavy emphasis on family, friends, and community. Mike is an avid golfer, traveler, and can always be seen having a great time with those around him. Mike, most importantly, enjoys his time with his wife, Julie, along with his two sons, Michael and Nick Newton. Mike is also extremely involved in his community and in the lives of those around him. Fun Fact:

In 2022, Mike chaired the Scoring Committee of the United States Golf Association’s Girls Championship at The Club at Olde Stone. Girls from over 40 countries participated in the televised event.

Fun Fact:

Mike has chaired a Christmas Parade, organized and chaired local junior golf tournaments, served as a Junior Bible Quiz Coach, chaired a development campaign for Orchestra Kentucky, served on the board of the Warren County Community Foundation and the board of the local Red Cross.

Fun Fact:

While on the Board of Directors of Bowling Green Christian Academy for ten years, Mike served as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Athletic Director, Basketball Coach, and Robotics Coach.

Fun Fact:

Mike is a past member of Living Hope Baptist Church’s Board of Trustees (past chairman). He is former member of the Estate Planning Advisory Council for Campbellsville University, the Greenwood High School Career and Technical Advisory Committee, and the Western Kentucky University’s “W” Club (past chairman). The “W” Club is only open to former athletic letter winners and is responsible for the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame selections and recognitions as well as current athletic letter recognitions.

Fun Fact:

Mike was the Head Coach of the Greenwood High School Boy’s Golf Team from 2010 to 2018. During those years his teams had some of the most successful seasons in school history. In 2022, two teams coached by Mike were inducted into the Greenwood Athletics Hall of Fame. They are currently the only golf teams at Greenwood’s history ever inducted into the Hall of Fame.
